徐嘉琦 Sophia Jiaqi Xu (b.2000, Guangdong, China), currently lives and works in Amsterdam. She graduated with a BA’s degree in 2024 from the Photography department of Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Her practice revolves around the fluid transformation of images through repetition, layering, and the tactile interplay of materials. Drawing from her background in painting, she merges photography with printmaking techniques, creating works that oscillate between abstraction and materiality. Her explorations delve into the mutable nature of memory, where each reproduction distorts and reshapes the original, resulting in images that are both visually and physically engaging.
Her solo exhibition includes Shadowplay (August 2023) at IRIS ARLES, France, and group exhibitions includes Rietveld Uncut: The Shallows (March 2022) at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and Green Chaud! (December 2022) at Fedlev, Amsterdam. Recent publication includes Variations, From the Edge, Dreamscape, Time Square Calling, The Shallows, DAYS, Winter in the Netherlands, and Evidence.
